Find out about our full time courses

Our Level 3 courses include a one-year Diploma and a two-year Extended Diploma. The Extended Diploma is comparable to three A Levels. These are full-time courses, run by colleges around the country. These colleges have been specially selected by NextGen’s industry partners as being well placed to deliver the new recruits the industry needs. You will develop technical, artistic, maths and programming skills that are vital to the successful creation of any game, animation or visual effects film or programme.

You'll be based in the classroom but, like all NextGen courses, our Level 3 qualifications were developed in partnership with employers. You'll learn the principal and foundation education you will need for your career and precisely the skills they are looking for. Working to employer briefs and getting real industry feedback is an integral part of the course. You’ll receive visits from industry practitioners who will share their experience and provide real insight into the kind of roles and work you could be doing and the differences between each employer.

Once you have completed the NextGen Level 3 course in Games, Animation and VFX Skills you will be ideally placed to progress onto a Higher Apprenticeship or a Degree Course.

Coming soon: we're developing a new, full-time Level 2 course for young people who want to explore the possibility of a career in the creative industries while continuing to study for GCSEs. Watch this space for more information.

NextGen also offers short courses and work-based Higher Apprenticeships. The short courses, ranging from one day to three weeks, give an introduction to the Games, Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) industries. While our Higher Apprenticeships last two years: you'd do most of your learning in the workplace as an employee and spend roughly 20% of your time studying in a classroom.
