From April 2017, the way the government funds apprenticeships in England will change with the introduction of an apprenticeship levy and the online apprenticeship service. A new guidance document for employers was published on the 30th March 2017.

The apprenticeship levy requires all employers operating in the UK, with a pay bill over £3 million each year, to make an investment in apprenticeships. Companies can benefit from this investment by training apprenticeships.

Ahead of the changes, the government released new guidance on the 30th March 2017  to provide further information on how the apprenticeship levy will work for levy paying and non levy paying employers.

The guidance gives further details on how employers can take advantage of government support of apprenticeships, how to choose and pay for a training provider and how to access the online apprenticeship service.
