The apprenticeship levy requires all employers operating in the UK, with a pay bill over £3 million each year, to make an investment in apprenticeships. Companies can benefit from this investment by training apprentices.

On 21st April 2016 the Government release new guidance  to provide further  information on how the apprenticeship levy will work, from when it is introduced on 6 April 2017. It also explains the principles that apprenticeship funding and the levy will operate on from April 2017, whether you pay the levy or not.

It covers the 10% top-up of funds in the employers digital acocunts, the expiry duration of any levy payment at 18 months and the pooling of funds with other employers in group structures.
