Start your journey to a career in games, animation and VFX with NextGen
We are pleased to announce that we are working with South & City College Birmingham, Royal Leamington Spa and Middlesbrough College to offer NextGen courses on the AIM Awards Level 3 Extended Diploma in Games, Animation and VFX Skills from September 2018.
This Level 3 qualification is aimed at students aged 16+, the Extended Diploma is comparable with 3 A’levels and comes with UCAS points so you can progress to University or a Higher Apprenticeship.
Uniquely, we’ve developed our course and qualification, in partnership with AIM Awards, building on the NextGen employer group’s support and insight across games, animation and VFX including Blue Zoo, Double Negative, Framestore, Microsoft, MPC, Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe and Ubisoft. You'll learn precisely the skills employers are looking for. You'll work to employer briefs, get real industry feedback and have masterclasses with industry experts.

South & City College Birmingham (SCCB)
SCCB is the only college in Birmingham to offer this definitive course for skills in the Games, Animation and VFX industries.
You will develop a fusion of creative and technical skills and understanding of these 3 related areas, one of the fastest growing and most exciting in the media, film and digital industries. Royal Leamington Spa College
The course covers theory and software skills relating to 3D modelling, animation, game design, and visual effects. You will also learn the fundamental skills that underpin these disciplines such as traditional art, maths, and programming.
You’ll be studying in high quality facilities located in Leamington Spa, one of the country’s largest game development hubs, and home to studios such as Ubisoft, Playground Games and Rebellion.

Do you want to design the games you play? Based in MC Digital, our technical digital school, you will learn in our purpose-built games design and creative media studios which are equipped with industry-standard media production software and hardware.
The course covers all the fundamental skills required in art, animation, visual effects, games design, principles of 3D design, maths and product programming and knowledge of the ecosystem of the industries.
