About the Course
This course is delivered in partnership with the NextGen Skills Academy and is designed to provide you with the skills that employers in the Games, Animation and Visual Effects industries are looking for. The Level 3 Extended Diploma qualification is equivalent to three A-Levels, and has been written in close consultation with internationally recognised companies such as Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe, Microsoft, Ubisoft Reflections, Framestore, Double Negative, Blue Zoo, The Imaginarium, Playground Games, Centroid 3D, Rebellion and Creative Assembly.
Primarily aimed at those with an interest in art and computing, the course covers theory and software skills relating to 3D modelling, animation, game design, and visual effects. You will also learn the fundamental skills that underpin these disciplines such as traditional art, maths, and programming. Finally you will learn how these industries work, and complete several group projects to develop your team working and project management skills.
The partnership with NextGen Skills Academy will give you access to a wide range of industry professionals who will deliver masterclasses and supply project briefs. You’ll have the opportunity to show your work to industry employers and talent scouts at an end-of-course showcase event.
Knowing they have the sought after skills and knowledge this dynamic industry demands, students on successful completion of the Next Gen Extended Diploma, complete with a strong portfolio and personal development will provide confident progression into a higher apprenticeship, gain employment or achieve a relevant university course offer.
The NextGen Level 3 Extended Diploma in Games, Animation & VFX Skills is fully funded for 16 - 18 year old students, and for students aged 19-23 who don't already have a full Level 3 qualification.
