What is an INSPIRE Work Placement?

An INSPIRE Work Placement is a unique opportunity designed to equip you with essential employability skills and hands-on experience in the creative industries. The placement lasts four-weeks and comprises of two-days employability training followed by a four-week paid part-time work placement with a prominent employer.

Delivered by NextGen in collaboration with The JGA Group, our INSPIRE placements offer a springboard for your professional journey.

Our next placements are with Spilt Milk Studios!

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming placements are with Spilt Milk Studios! We’re recruiting for two Marketing/Social Media Content Creators to join this renowned independent game developer based in London.

This is your chance to gain real paid industry experience, you will be working with founder Andrew Smith and most if not all of the small team at the studio, helping to build and contribute to the marketing and social media buzz surrounding their upcoming game Trash Goblin.

The placements are part-time for two days per week and you will be paid the London Living Wage. The placements start on Monday 25th March 2024 and last for four weeks.

About the roles:

As a Marketing/Social Media Content Creator you will be supporting the creation and production of Trash Goblin promotional content for use across social channels including TikTok, YouTube, Discord and more. You will apply imagination and artistic skill to create video and imagery of the game, its development and the team behind it.

Working to creative briefs, you’ll generate ideas and then drive them through to completion, with plenty of feedback and iteration with the wider team. You will work across many forms of media, such as short-form video, graphic design, memes, and more.

This is all in support of Trash Goblin, a cosy and wholesome shopkeeping game that recently saw great success on Kickstarter and is due to launch this year on Steam.

The role will also suit those with a passion for games and visuals across various mediums.

There will be specific areas you can specialise in, such as: TikTok, branding, marketing and community management.

We expect successful applicants to be able to demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Keen interest in pursuing education or a career in marketing, community, or a related field.
  • A keen eye for quality content and an ability to create it from scratch. Strong attention to detail and ability to work within project guidelines.
  • Experience creating content for consumption on social media, and maybe even some experience with associated software & services (TikTok, YouTube, Photoshop, Video editing, Discord, etc.)
  • Good time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Important dates - Interviews, training and placements!

  • Midday on Wednesday 13th March 2024: Applications close
  • Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th March: Selected applicants will be invited to attend an initial interview. This will be remotely via Teams or Zoom
  • Thursday 21st March: Second and final interviews
  • Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th March: Employability training w/ NextGen and JGA
  • Wednesday 27th March to Friday 24th April: Work Placements take place with Spilt Milk Studios! Exact working dates will be confirmed with the successful applicants
