Introduction to 3D Animation

The NextGen Creative Skills Hub and The Creative Academy Hub at Capital City College Group have united their expertise to bring you this amazing learning opportunity.

Discover the perfect opportunity for aspiring animators

Are you passionate about animation but lack formal education or work experience? This hands-on course aims to empower beginners with an understanding of the fundamentals of animation using Blender.

It offers a structured learning experience to foster creativity, technical skills development, and artistic expression, plus you’ll get to meet and learn from industry professionals!

This programme is offered in collaboration with the NextGen Creative Skills Hub and The Creative Academy Hub at Capital City College Group.

Course dates: The course lasts for four weeks starting from Monday 26th February 2024.

There will be three planned sessions per week. To make it accessible the course blends in-person group lessons at Westminster Kingsway College and online tutor sessions, with personal study. These take place during evenings and weekends to help you fit in study around other commitments.

Throughout the programme, you will receive dedicated support from a specialised tutor who will guide you every step of the way, plus the opportunity to meet and learn from industry professionals.

By the end of the course, you will gain:

  • An understanding of the 12 Principles of Animation
  • Insights into London studios and individual roles within the animation industry
  • A beginner understanding of the professional animation studio pipeline
  • Increased confidence in professional work skills, including communication, teamwork, task management, and responding to feedback.

Who can apply?

  • You must be over the age of 19 and live in the Greater London Area
  • Beginners with some basic knowledge of animation and software
  • Aspiring creatives seeking a career or preparing for further education in animation
  • We particularly welcome applications from those who are underrepresented in the creative industries

Beyond the beginner stage

We hope upon completing this course, applicants should feel confident enough to continue growing their portfolio and apply for a spot on our Animation Accelerate Bootcamp, our intermediate programme delivered in partnership with Blue Zoo!

Throughout both programmes you’ll be using our Remote Industry Studio Experience platform, which ensures a seamless learning experience. It replicates a professional studio pipeline in one easy to navigate package, helping you to gain real insights into the industry pipeline.
